What equipment do I need, in order to use Sage's high-speed Internet access?

The Sage Motel has installed a special "Access Point" which is referred to as a "Hot Spot". Once you come within range of a Wireless Hot Spot with an 802.11(b or g) enabled wireless device, you will be able to log into our network and access the internet. All you need is a notebook / laptop computer or a handheld PDA with a WiFi-compliant IEEE 802.802.11(b or g) wireless card and a Web browser (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator).

How to install the software drivers for wireless network cards?

Software drivers differ from each other depending on the specific wireless network card. You can refer to the documentation that came with your wireless network card for specific instructions. Click here for a list of popular wireless devices and manufactures to obtain technical support for your device.

Why might I need to change my SSID, and how can I do so?

An SSID (Service Set Identifier) is a unique code that tells a wireless device which wireless network to connect to. Sage's devices are configured to broadcast an SSID which allows a wireless adapter/card to detect and use Sage's wireless network. If you'd like to connect to our wireless service, please contact us to obtain our SSID. The SSID may also be known as the Network Name or ESSID depending on the brand of the WiFi card.

How to verify that my card is connected to the Access Point?

Most wireless networking cards include an indicator. This indicator allows you to determine whether the connection has been made to the Access Point and your wireless device. In addition, most wireless cards come with client side software that displays signal strength. Consult the instruction manual that came with your wireless card to determine different features.
